Prominent political stakeholders from Daura Local Government Area of Katsina State have publicly expressed support for Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Those who declared their support include the wife of Nigeria’s late former President, Aisha Buhari; the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura; serving and former commissioners; local government chairmen; party officials; and other influential figures within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The endorsement was announced during a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting held at the Daura Local Government Secretariat, which drew political leaders, party members, and residents from across the area.

Organisers of the meeting said the gathering was convened to formally communicate the position of Daura stakeholders, who unanimously identified Governor Radda as their preferred and sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

Speaking at the event, Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly and member representing Daura, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura, stated that leaders and supporters of the APC at local, state, and federal levels had collectively agreed to back Governor Radda for a second term.

According to him, the administration’s policies and development initiatives across the state justified the call for continuity. He noted that stakeholders believed the governor deserved the opportunity to consolidate on what they described as ongoing reforms and projects.

Also addressing the gathering, the Chairman of Daura Local Government stakeholders and former APC legal adviser, Barrister Ahmad El-Marzouq, said Daura had remained a stronghold of the APC, citing the eight-year tenure of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari as a reflection of the area’s political alignment.

He added that following Buhari’s death, the people of Daura remained committed to the APC and had therefore resolved to support Governor Radda’s re-election bid.

The Katsina State Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Sani Ali Ahmed, described Daura residents as politically united, noting that their collective decision was to support Governor Radda in 2027.

In separate remarks, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Hon. Adnan Nahabu, and the Chairman of Daura Local Government, Alhaji Bala Musa, highlighted what they described as achievements of the current administration, reaffirming their support on behalf of party members and residents.

Other speakers at the event included former Daura Local Government Chairman, Hon. Kabir S. Royal; former APC Women Leader in the area, Hajiya Safiya Daura; APC Chairman of Daura Local Government, Alhaji Mamman Salisu Bariki; as well as Hon. Usman Salihu and Alhaji Yahaya Rabe.

Aisha Buhari also addressed the meeting virtually, according to organisers.
